Alan Joyce, CEO of Australian airline Qantas has received a cream pie to the face during a speech in Perth.
Joyce was addressing a crowd of around 500 people about the company’s decision to run non-stop flights from Perth to London when a man walked up onto the stage and stuck a pie right in his face.
Joyce told the crowd “I don’t know what that was about” before leaving the stage to clean his face.
He returned to cheers from the audience a few moments later. “Now if there are any more pies can you get it over with now,” the CEO quipped.
The pie attacker was intercepted by security. A police spokesperson said:
“We’re currently investigating the incident and interviewing the individual concerned.”
